05/10/10 Keremeos to Copper Mountain
We though that going from they Okanagan to Vancouver would be a piece of cake but we were definitely wrong. Today's road is not hilly as yesterday but the wind gives us no chance. From this day, I will remember the splendid scenery of the valley, but much more certainly, the annoying sound of the road signs creaking on their post. In this area, the winds are so strong that they decide to hang those signs on pulley instead of screwing them to reduce maintenance. After a pit stop in Princeton, we attach the climb of the E.C. Manning Park. That's definitely the most difficult bike ride I have ever done. For about 20 km, we climb sharp bended road, pushing with all our power on the pedals. The trucks beside us don't go much more faster. Some of them have to stop on the way to cool down. What would it be going down this hill in the middle of the winter! On top of the mountain, we do not have any energy to go further. We decide to find a spot in the wood and make a fire. If any of you drive that road one day, please have a though for us who once, did it on our bike. For sure, I won't do it twice. Distance: 80 km
