08/09/10 Canmore to Banff

When we wake up, it's still rainy outside the tent. We bike on the brand new cycle path that goes from Canmore to Banff. The rain doesn't stop. Water is litteraly pouring from our helmets and our shoes are now swimming pools. Cold and wet, we didn't even consider camping tonight.  By chance, we found what must be the cheapest accommodation in the very touristic town of Banff, a B & B for 72$ per night for both of us. We decide to drop our stuff there, get warmer and hike Sulfur Mountain before it gets dark.

The hike is pretty easy but is a good practice to get ready for tomorrow since we planned to do one of the hardest hiking of the park. At the top, it is so cloudy that we can't really have a view except for an instant when we got a hole in the clouds and we could see the town at the bottom of the mountain and all those snowy peaks surrounding us. It's great! Distance: 25 km

Sulphur Mountain: 11 km, elevation gain 655 m
