We bike for one hour on Portage ave, an ugly and stressful commercial street that never ends. The weather is crazy. There are wind drafts coming from all directions, carrying newspapers , Tim Horton cups and potatoes chips bags that get stuck in our wheels. The strong gusts of win carry loads of dirt and Amelie has a very hard time with her contact lenses. The first kilometers on the highway 1 are not the best. Traffic is heavy and noisy. Even when I am screaming, Amelie cannot heard me. At 9 pm, we pitch the tent on the side of the highway along the Assiniboine River. It is a mosquito nest and it seems we are VERY tasty to them. That's not a good start on our journey to Regina. Distance: 45 km
One of the few bikers riding on the street in Winnipeg. Most of them still choose the sidewalk although it is illegal.
